So, I ended up unpacking all of my books just before leaving to get the bus to Toronto. It turns out my bus showed up a half hour before Kalena's, so it was great timing. We then proceeded on the trek to Kipling station. I had/have no idea how to get to the hotel from there, so we called a cab. $20, not bad. We got checked in to our room. They gave Kalena a run-around with her credit card, but we straightened it out. Next, it was off to the DoubleTree to pick up our badges for the weekend. We went to Boston Pizza for food and drink. I can't remember what else we did that night.
Got up at 10am to take my meds. Went down for breakfast. I had crunchy french toast. It was pretty good. Can't remember exactly what we did between then and 3pm, but I put some purple streaks in Kalena's hair before jumping into the shower and getting dressed.
We headed over to the DoubleTree and attended "How to Survive an Anime Convention" as our first panel. It was pretty straight forward stuff. The panel after that was "Japanese Culture" but it wasn't that great. After that was "Hidden Anime Gems". Let me say I've got a long list of shows I need to see. :) Then we saw two episodes of Samaurai Jack before heading over to the Renisance Hotel for the Nominoichi which was basically a yard sale. Kalena ended up buying Immortal Rain #1. We then caught the tail end of "Create That Yaoi" while waiting for "Harry Potter Slash". We walked out on that cuz it just turned out to be a bunch of fangirl squeeing. :S By this point, Kalena was exhausted. She went back to our room and I hoofed it back over to the DoubleTree for the Silent Hill panel. Am happy that I went, too, as I learned that a fifth game is in development. YAY! And apparently there are Silent Hill comics which I must hunt down. After that, it was time to head back to the room. I got a high-five and a hug from some guys, which was cool. Some girl gave me a compliment. I'm not exactly sure what she said, but it sounded positive. lol.
There was a Megaman panel that I didn't get to on Saturday morning. But I did manage to get
(I know the quality sucks. The guy was kinda pissy about me taking the picture.) for sexyblueduck. I tried wearing the boots that I had bought specifically for the con, but they just hurt too much. We caught the shuttle bus to the TCC and walked around Artist's Alley and the Dealer's Room. I got
Saw Marc at his table; spoke briefly. He had a beautiful jade bracelet, but I talked myself out of buying it. Kalena ended up buying over a hundred dollars worth of manga. Oh, I also found Indigo Prophecy, so that's one more off my list. :) We watched the cosplay chess for a bit, but it was rather boring, so we sat outside and read manga until it was time for "Non Anime Animation". Lots of talk about Disney, but it was still pretty good. After that, we went to Les' panel: "Darkain Arts" in which he was nearly unrecognisable. :P At this time, we went back to our room to change. We then went to the breakdancing workshop, which was lots of fun, before we headed over to Anime Hell. OMG, I think it was the highlight of my weekend. So hilarious! Next year I'm staying for the full session. We met up with Les at 9pm. Got to talk a little bit. Chad was there (of course) but Les somehow managed to get him to leave. We went back to the Renisance Hotel for the "Gay Sex 101" panel. It was quite entertaining and I got to see Alex, but Kalena was falling asleep, so we headed back to the room for the night.
I wanted to go to the Cowboy Bebop panel, but it was just more convenient for us to grab a cab from the hotel and head over to the bus terminal. Everything went fine. Kalena bought more pocky, I bought a ($10) dvd. We read manga until it was time for her to get the bus. Again, the timing was good, as her's left only half an hour before mine. Next year, we are planning a Friday to Monday stay instead of Thursday to Sunday.
- Met a transexual (M to F)
- Saw a guy dressed as a companion cube (his gf was dressed in a jumpsuit that said "Aperature")
- Someone dressed as a tetris piece
- running in at the end of a panel and fangirling Les ;D
