Yesterday I spent most of the day at the library. Well, actually, I spent most of the day around the library. I went to Shoppers and GT for Hallowe'en candy and milk. Spent my free time reading the Freedom Writers' book. It is so hard to put down!
Went with Elaine to pick up the guest author for dinner. So much construction! But then, Canada only has two seasons... (Winter and Construction), so I guess they are cramming in all they can before the snow arrives, but last year it seemed to persist throughout the snow. Anyway, there were many people holding stop/slow signs, but the one that stood out was this woman wearing HUGE dangly earrings. wtf? One of the first things you learn in WHMIS is that you do not wear anything dangly or loose while working in that sort of environment. I tried to get Elaine to ask the lady about it, but she distracted me so that she didn't have to do it. :P
So, we picked up the author and I think I did okay conversationally, but I felt awkward nevertheless. At one point in the evening I felt like I was going to breakdown crying for no particular reaso, but I was able to suppress it. We ended up eating at the Lazy Loon. I had Greek pasta and it was yummy(and the portion size is great too)! The restaurant was pretty cool, they had Trivia Pursuit cards at every table, so we took turns asking each other questions while waiting for the food.
On the way to the library, the author (Ann Flemming) mentioned how she couldn't find Macintosh toffee bars in BC, so I went to the store and bought two for her. :)
So, she read passages from her book, Anomaly, and it really brought a new dimension to the characters. I had actually forgotten if I had read the book or not, so I had her quiz me on it a bit to figure out if I had read it. (I have.) There were some highschool kids from a creative writing class there and I think all of them asked at least one question. I got a lot of good info about publishing from Ann. Afterwards, I purchased her book of short stories and had her autograph it for me. :) It was good.
After Ed picked me up, I watched The Pagemaster. There were many laughable parts, and many big name actors. I want to look for the song "Whatever You Imagine" (I think). I think Leah will like it.
Today, I did laundry and played a game on the computer. I tried to do some reading, but just couldn't stick to it. Had pizza for dinner. Mmmm. I also put away the rest of the photos I'd printed off.
Had a weird dream about the bird today. Dreamt that I moved in with a roomate (reminded me of my first roomate in Homewood) and that I had the bird with me. Well, he kept hiding because I didn't have a cage for him, and then after a day I realised that I had only fed the bird once, but he was used to snacking during the day, so I needed to find a bowl that I could leave seeds out for him. Also, there was a full-sized swimming pool in the apartment, but the water was cold and I was unable to keep my body close enough to the surface.
That's pretty much it. I've just been listening to Pottercast and playing videogames. The author reading last night had me thinking about trying a few of the idea challenges on write_away, but I dread the frustration. I also already have so much on the go, but that is just an excuse.
