From "The End" by Roch Carrier|
The end of one's life is a very personal matter. Someone may have an urge to die in the same way that one wants to live... Everything comes to an end. There are times when you would like to be eternal, but eternity is very long... A short life too may seem overly long... At times you may feel that it's over. You no longer hanve an urge to go on. You've lived long enough. You jump off the train because it's travelling too fast or too slow. It's very hard to say. Someone may leave because he has harmed another person. We are afraid of death and we want to escape it before it catches up with us. We want to escape from suffering. We leave our life the way we leave a movie, because it's not very good. Some disappear because they have wrinkles around their eyes. Because they have arthritis in their little finger. It's all very difficult. At that point, one falls silent. Those who speak are only those who have never been to the edge of that precipice where the Great Silence begins.
