Small kindness.

One of the most influential teachers of my highschool career was a man I did not expect to have such an impact on my memory. When I first started highschool, he was one of the autoshop teachers; after the teacher's strike, he ended up teaching biology.
In grade 9, we had a class where we went into all of the different tech shops for a week. I did not enjoy auto-mechanics at all, and did not think I would ever have much interaction with this particular teacher.
In my last year of highschool, I decided to take biology as it was the only science I had yet to study. Mr. Reid ended up teaching both of my biology classes, and even though it was just one year, he has done a few things that I will always remember:
I was able to ask him questions about anything... without feeling embarrassed.
When I got my name changed, he pulled strings to that I could be re-awarded with a certificate I had won the previous year so that it would have my new name on it. This means so much to me. Really validated my decision/choice, I believe.
At the reception after the graduation ceremony. He shook my hand and said, "Be good and have fun." I don't know why that stands out in my memory, but it does. A man that I did not think would have any impact on my life, yet these simple things that he did will always be appreciated and remembered. (And I know they will be, for it has already been 10 years and I have yet to forget.)
Thank you.
