cookie monster

27 years.

Oh boy. Anyway, the party was good, despite my having a cold. I dosed up on the Neocitran and I think that's what got me through the day. I'm pretty decided that the next time I make Portal cake, I'm only going to make the middle layer. Oh, the funniest part was when I blew out the candle and half the chocolate shavings flew off! I'll post pictures of my haul later on.
In attendance were: Ian, Liz, Elaine, Ed, Wayne, Kay, Mandy, Les, Jess G, and Jeff. It was a good mix. We watched Oblongs while the taco meat was cooking. Ate (tacos), did gifts, ate cake, watched the birthday movie, listened to "Still Alive", played the paper game (with some really kickin' results), played Scategories, played pinball, talked A LOT. I lost my voice this morning. Even though the invites said 4pm-midnight, it ended up being more like 5pm-3am. It was pretty good even though a bunch of my girls couldn't make it. Got lots of birthday wishes on Facebook as well. (I haven't looked at my LJ flist yet, but thank you to those of you who wrote me wishes on there as well. ♥)

Okay, it's worth mentioning twice. My mom got me a ticket to see Lewis Black in January!!!!!!!. My mom is so awesome. I can't think of a better gift. ♥ x 1 000 000 000

Thank you to everyone, ie. all my friends who have helped me get this far. I love you.

Xmas card sign up.

Since my birthday is officially passed, I can now partake of the Christmas festivities. I thought about decorating today, but I still feel like crap. (How long is a cold supposed to last??)
Anyway, if you want a Christmas card from me (even if you can't send one back), please sign up here. If I don't already have your address, you can email it to me. (My email is listed in my userinfo.) The sooner you post, the better, cuz the post office can get rather backlogged this time of year.

This seems like a good idea.

Step One

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/ computer/ house/ TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals, or holiday_wishes) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

I don't really want anything specific. If you really want to get me something, you can refer to this entry.

I'm really posting this because I am curious about your wishes and if I might be able to make any of them come true.
